Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) are used on citewren.com and by the Citewren Chrome extension. Citewren is operated by Rasa Petkevičiūtė, Kaunas, Lithuania ("we", "us"). Contact: info@citewren.com. It complements our Privacy Policy.
Summary
- citewren.com sets no cookies of its own.
- We use no advertising, social media or tracking cookies. Our visitor statistics are cookieless.
- Because we use no non-essential cookies, we do not show a cookie consent banner.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage and tracking pixels. Under the EU ePrivacy Directive (Article 5(3)), as implemented in Lithuania by the Law on Electronic Communications, a website may only store or read such information on your device with your consent, unless it is strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for or to transmit a communication.
2. Cookies on citewren.com
This website is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies and uses no local storage. The only third-party resource it loads is Cloudflare's analytics script, described in section 3; our security headers block every other script.
Our host, Cloudflare, may in some situations set one of these strictly necessary security cookies to tell people and automated traffic apart and protect the site from abuse:
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm | Cloudflare | Bot protection: identifies trusted traffic. Does not track you across sites. | 30 minutes |
cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Remembers that you passed a security check, so you are not asked again. | Up to 1 day |
These cookies are exempt from consent because they are needed to deliver the site securely. They are only set when Cloudflare's protection is triggered, so most visitors receive none. See Cloudflare's cookie policy.
3. Visitor statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views, referring sites and visitors' countries, so we can see which pages and channels bring people to Citewren. It does not set cookies, does not use local storage, does not fingerprint your device, and does not follow you across websites. We only see aggregated numbers, never individual visitors. Because nothing is stored on or read from your device for tracking, this does not need your consent; the processing rests on our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (see the Privacy Policy).
4. Checkout on Polar
When you click "Get Pro" or "Get Agency" you leave citewren.com for a checkout page hosted by Polar (buy.polar.sh), our merchant of record. Polar and its payment provider set the cookies needed to process your payment and prevent fraud, and ask for any consent they need. Those cookies are governed by Polar's privacy policy, not this one.
5. The Citewren extension
The extension does not set cookies and does not read cookies of the websites you analyse. It keeps your settings, tracked domains and license key in Chrome's extension storage on your device, which is strictly necessary for it to work. You can delete this data by removing the extension.
When you activate a license key, the extension tells our server that this is an activation rather than a routine daily check. The server adds one to a daily count of activations per plan. Nothing that identifies you or your key is kept in that count.
6. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking Cloudflare's security cookies may mean you are shown a security check more often. Blocking cookies on Polar's checkout may prevent you from completing a purchase.
7. Changes
If we ever add non-essential cookies or other tracking technologies, we will update this page first and, where the law requires consent, ask for it before any such cookie is set. We will revise the date above whenever this policy changes.
8. Contact and complaints
Questions about this policy: info@citewren.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority; in Lithuania this is the State Data Protection Inspectorate (Valstybinė duomenų apsaugos inspekcija, vdai.lrv.lt).
